GFI announces its 6th Youth Leadership nomination process

The board of Galing Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the office of the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Atlanta announces the nomination process to award 2 students (1 in middle school and 1 in high school) as its 6th Youth Leaders.  The YLA (Youth Leadership Award) was created and organized to promote the importance of voluntarism, active engagement and commitment among the youth, in charitable organizations that benefits the community and beyond for a common good.

"Today's children are tomorrow's leaders.  We are so grateful for the community's support of our leadership program for the youth who come from the Filipino American community.  We need the community's continued support to keep our children aware that they not only have a responsibility towards their immediate family but to their local community as well, volunteering their precious time to do good works for good causes.  Our goal is to recognize them and to let them know that we are proud of them" says A. Blackburn.

Save the Date: Saturday, October 6 International Dinner & Auction





Roswell, GA—On Saturday, October 6, Cross of Life Lutheran Church in Roswell will host its third annual  dinner fundraising event "Language of Love"  to benefit its missions in Africa, The Philippines and India. The evening’s events will include food from around the world, multi-cultural entertainment, and silent and live auctions. The community is welcome at no charge however, reservation is required. 

Funds raised by the auctions will be donated to several of the church’s charitable causes, including:
·         Malawi Mission in Southeast Africa—For the purchase of bicycles to provide much-needed transportation for the area’s pastors, as well as sewing machines to help the women improve their livelihood;
·         Galing Foundation in Mindanao, The Philippines—A 7 year old organization dedicated to covering the high costs of shipping new and gently used books and school supplies for the education of the region’s over 3,000 children; Padhar Mission School in central India—To contribute to students’ tuition, as well as to assist with the costs of operating and maintaining the school, which opened in 1903 and has over 30,000 graduates.
The evening will begin with the silent auction, during which refreshments will be served, followed by a welcome message that will include blessings in various languages; Hindi, Filipino, Blaan, Chichewa, Korean, German, Spanish and English. Dinner will feature dishes from far and wide. “Attendees will be treated to song and dance by a number of professional musicians,” said Janine Dismer, Social Concerns committee chair from Cross of Life. 

“Language of Love” will be held Saturday, October 6 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the church, which is located at 1000 Hembree Road in Roswell, just ¼ mile west of Highway 9/Alpharetta Highway.
