Education
Of the world's 781 million illiterate adults, 64% are women. Their lack of education continually undermines their communities' level of health care and economic stability. Some U.S. grants have focused on women's education in places like Kazakhstan and Qatar; the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan drew attention to the frustrations of uneducated girls there.
"Educating girls yields a higher rate of return than any other investment available in the developing worlds." ----World Bank
