Galing Foundation, Inc. and The Office of the Philippine Honorary Consulate General announces its nomination process to award the 5th Youth Leader

The Board of Galing Foundation, Inc. and the Office of the Philippine Honorary Consulate General announces its nomination process to award a student for its 5th Youth Leadership Award:

Selection Guidelines

The Galing Foundation, Inc. Board or its designee will select a student from the three school levels:

1. Elementary Level
2. Middle School Level
3. High School Level

The student must be from the Filipino community whom you think have made valuable contributions to the school and community in the state of Georgia.


Procedure

Nominations may come from any resident of Georgia nominating any student of Filipino heritage attending a local school in the state of Georgia. Nominations must be in writing and must be mailed (electronically or via postal service) to Galing Foundation, Inc. by no later than November 20, 2011.

I. Selections: A selection committee composed of 3 distinguished members serving in the state of Georgia will make Final selection.

II. Criteria for selection will be based on the following:

A. Academic Excellence: Each nominee shall provide proof of academic achievement as well as active involvement in extra-curricular activities of the school; (copy of report card)

B. Community Service: Willingly volunteers his/her time and resources to schools and/or communities in Georgia when called upon.

C. Leadership: Demonstrates self initiative in promoting school and community's charitable activities. Exemplifies positive qualities and attitudes, which students can look up to;

D. Character: Demonstrates genuine concern for others. Sets a positive example for fellow students to emulate and displays an exemplary disposition towards others.


Award

Each honoree will receive a certificate of recognition and a minimum of $400 U.S. savings bond.

Announcement of Winners will be published via AccessPhilippineAtlanta and Galing Foundation, Inc. website on December 1, 2011.
The Awards dinner will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 6pm at Canton House Restaurant (4825 Buford Highway, Chamblee, GA 30341).
